Many obese people have difficulty breathing because their chest is heavier and compresses in on their lungs. Also, there is added pressure on the diaphragm from abdominal fat. They may experience shortness of breath throughout the day with or without exertion, simply because it takes more effort and strength to fill their lungs with oxygen.
Difficulty breathing can slow your mental capacity because your brain may not be getting enough oxygen. One of the first things someone notices when losing weight, after being obese, is that they can breath easier and more comfortably. A new sense of life enters their body again and they feel younger, maybe because it’s easier for oxygen to reach their blood, brain, and vital organs.
